Founded by Kimi Uno, Howl Mercantile is a marketplace for artists and makers looking to financially support themselves through their passion and small business. What was the original inspiration behind Howl Mercantile?
Howl Mercantile & Coffee is an experiential retail environment offering small batch artisanal goods and a home to an intersectional creative community. We proudly serve an assortment of coffee beverages in partnership with our roaster, Corvus Coffee, from Denver. Since its inception, Howl has always stood as a cry against oppression, subjugation, and late stage capitalism. We envision our space as a marketplace for artists and makers trying to bypass modern day capitalism and financially support themselves through their passion and small businesses.
At Howl Mercantile, we source products from Instagram, local artists and from a few different wholesale websites.
The city of Salida inspires us by by being located in the mountains of Colorado and it’s natural beauty. We are inspired by outdoor activities like hiking, camping, mountain biking and playing in the river. We are also inspired by our community of entrepreneurs and small businesses.
We’re excited about business in 2022, we recently opened another store across the street called Adventure Outpost by Howl. The Outpost is Adventure and Outdoor focused and is a great compliment to the Mercantile. Our town has seen a tremendous amount of growth and we are looking forward to a busy summer peak season.
This year, we look forward to supporting our current brands and also adding new brands and categories to our assortment. We also have plans this year to expand our coffee offerings by upgrading our espresso machine. We have a lot of new people on our team and are very excited to get to know each other and get in a groove before our peak season
